Story
It’s not you and it’s not me is a romantic comedy that explores ‘girlhood’ in your 20s, showcasing the beauty of Portsmouth whilst navigating newfound relationships. Following themes of societal expectations of relationships, and uncertainty in young people, the film subverts the romcom and digs deeper into what it means to love.

Hopeless romantic Junie Lee, goes on a set of speed dates in hopes of finding her dream man. The men she meets leave her feeling uninspired and Junie’s day gets even worse when her cherished bike gets stolen. Fortunately, the day seems to turn around when she bumps into ‘Noah’, who’s desperate to have his lost passport returned to him, and they go out on a mission to find their lost items. This search for the bike changes direction as the pair spend a surprisingly romantic afternoon together. Fate aligns just as the pair are about to give up, and Junie’s thief appears. With their stolen items returned the two decide to go their separate ways but not without the chance of seeing each other again.

Directors Note
It’s not you and it’s not me draws on references from rom com classics whilst reflecting the modern experiences of dating. Junie is reminiscent of Jessica day, a girl who has dreamt of a relationship, but is stuck with the reality of never finding the guy that is quite right for her. Whilst Noah, the unexpected love interest, finds himself faced with a series of awkward and stressful moments during the day. They are both imperfect, as is their day, but both still have a chance of redeeming a potential spark. I hope that this film can show that not knowing what you are doing in your 20s, especially in love, is okay.
As well as showing the importance of having an accurate representation of unexpected romantic relationships, to remove the pressure that falling in love must look a certain way. Altogether It's not you and it's not me focuses on finding the funny in the unexpected moments that bring us together and the complicated dating world. I hope that you enjoy the film and know that no matter what your dating experiences are, you are still extraordinarily you.

Crowdfunding
To make sure we could make this film a reality we knew we needed to raise money for a budget. That way we would be able to pay our actors, have control of the production design, feed our crew on set, get good locations and pay for transport.
Alongside our crowdfunder we hosted several events to raise money, including pub quizzes, a karaoke night and a gaming tournament. If you want to watch our promo video or read more about our crowdfunding strategy you can still visit our crowdfunding page through this link.
